Whether you’re ready to out-holler the rest of the holler, show off your best pie recipe, or simply enjoy an afternoon of laughter and community fun, this event promises mountain charm, local tradition, and plenty of bragging rights.
Presented by Johnson County Trail Towns, hosted by the Van Lear Historical Society, and sponsored by Crossroads General Store, this family-friendly event celebrates Appalachian humor, heritage, and hometown spirit.

Husband Calling Contest Rules
Each contestant receives one official holler with a 30-second time limit.
Judging will be based on:
- volume
- originality
- crowd reaction
- overall holler factor
No microphones allowed.
Natural lung power only.
Homemade Pie Contest Rules
- Homemade pies only
- One entry per baker
- Pie must be submitted by 2:00 PM
- Include baker name and pie flavor
Judging will be based on:
- taste
- crust quality
- appearance
- crowd appeal
